Where to go if you are looking for typical products from Vorarlberg or high-quality products that are handmade in this country? Up and down the country there are a number of stores, cheese houses, museum stores and farm-gate stores that offer something special and a pleasant shopping atmosphere. Many of these stores present themselves in the style of contemporary Vorarlberg (wooden) architecture. The owners and staff are happy to tell you about their products and how they are made. La Wurscht, Egg
In the beginning, organic farmers Peter and Sonja Gmeiner sold meat from their own farm as well as sausage and ham specialties. The success was and is great. Today, in the bright modern store, they also offer cheese, spices, jams, juices, etc.
Metzler Cheese Whey, Egg
In the modern wooden building with a steeply pitched roof, the innovative Metzler family sells care products made from whey, goat’s and cow’s milk cheese from their own production. There are also teas, spices and spirits.
Bregenzerwälder Käsehaus Andelsbuch, Feldkirch, Sulzberg
The cheese house offers around 60 types of cheese, from hard cheese to soft cheese and fresh cheese. The assortment includes other culinary delicacies and home accessories. There is also a show dairy in Andelsbuch.
Werkraum Shop, Andelsbuch
Innovative pieces, made by Bregenzerwald craftsmen, are offered by the store in the modern Werkraumhaus. Available are ingenious bottle openers, shapely pepper mills, practical felt coasters, stylish wooden boards and much more.
Cheese store Vögel, Schwarzenberg
In the traditional Bregenzerwald house, Hedi Berchtold, the successor to founder Maria Vögel, sells carefully aged cheese made from cow’s, goat’s and sheep’s milk. The cheese matures in their own “Käs-Kär” (cheese cellar).
Alpine cheese Bregenzerwald
In Bezau and some other places in Vorarlberg “Alpenkäse Bregenzerwald” sells mountain cheese, semi-hard cheese, alpine dairy butter, cheese mixtures for Kässpätzle and some other specialties.
Badhus – Cafe & unpacked store, Lingenau
In the “Badhus”, furnished by Bregenzerwald craftsmen, Manuela, Martina, Sarah and Paula offer cakes and ice cream. Vegetables and berries are available unpackaged, as well as cosmetics and care products free of animal testing.
Ernele – Restaurant & Shop, Hittisau
The modern wooden cube near Hotel Das Schiff houses the “Ernele”, restaurant and store at the same time. On towering shelves you will find precious items from the region, from cheese to cookbooks.
Cheese cellar, Lingenau
Around 30,000 cheese wheels are stored in the modern concrete building. Cheeses of various stages of maturity are available in the store. Also sausages, whey care products and gift items.
Kleinwalsertal
s’hirscheck – store purchasing cafe, Hirschegg
A store and a café are combined in s’hirscheck. You can buy selected products from the Kleinwalsertal, from Vorarlberg and from the Allgäu. There is also one or the other from well-known Austrian manufactories.

In the 400-year-old barn in Hirschegg in Kleinwalsertal, Daniela and Michael Neumann offer fine food and drink. In addition, there are beautiful things for the home, of course everything from regional production.

The boutique in the center of Schruns offers hand-picked products from the Montafon, from Austria and also from other countries. From the Montafon come the “Sura Kees”, meat, sausages, honey, jams, teas and also decorative items.
