Here you'll find traditional and handmade products from Vorarlberg: from cheese and sweets to textiles and natural cosmetics.

Where should you go if you’re looking for typical products from Vorarlberg or high-quality items that are handcrafted right here in the region? All across the region, there are a number of shops, Käsehäuser, museum shops, and farm stands that offer something special along with a pleasant shopping atmosphere. Many of these shops are designed in the style of contemporary Vorarlberg (wooden) architecture. The owners and staff are happy to talk about their products and how they’re made. Here are a few tips!

  • St. Gerold Priory Shop
    A place of strength and tranquility. In recent years, the complex has been carefully modernized in the style of contemporary Vorarlberg (wooden) architectural style. The monastery shop also offers wine, culinary delights, books, and CDs.
  • biosphärenpark.haus, Sonntag
    The selection in the shop, located in a modern wooden building, varies by season. Available items include mountain cheeses at various stages of aging, Alp cheese, and goat cheeses. Regional herbal products and handicrafts are also available.
Bodensee-Vorarlberg region
  • Prinz Distillery, Hörbranz
    Discover, taste, browse, and savor: The modern shop offers fine schnapps, liqueurs, and creams made with hay milk and hay milk cream, as well as gift sets for connoisseurs.
  • Öhlmühle Sailer, Lochau
    In the former inn, the Sailers offer oils, preserves, and flours—including rarities such as apricot and pistachio kernel flour, nuts, vegan pasta, and much more. Everything is certified organic, of course. In addition to the store, there’s also an oil vending machine where you can buy these fine oils around the clock.
  • Schobel Höchstgenuss, Höchst
    Floor-to-ceiling windows, wooden shingles on the walls, a view of the fermentation vats: The Schobel family offers fine spirits, gently dried fruits with absolutely no preservatives, and pickled black walnuts.
  • vorarlberg museum Gift Shop, Bregenz
    The small shop in the museum’s foyer offers books about Vorarlberg, the region’s history, and its notable figures. It also carries exhibition catalogs, postcards, games, CDs, and unique accessories.
  • Wolford Boutique & Outlet, Bregenz
    Beautiful stockings, chic bodywear, swimwear—and many items at great prices: Fans of Wolford products are sure to find what they’re looking for at the Wolford Factory Outlet and in the elegant boutique.
  • s’Lädele / Mohren Beer Experience, Dornbirn
    The tried-and-true selection and seasonal beer specialties are available at the “Lädele” in the Mohren Brewery’s beer experience center. Those interested can learn more about beer production during tastings and events.
  • Moosbrugger Cheese, Mäder
    In the Rheintal valley, Moosbrugger Cheese is a local institution and known for its innovations. In addition to cheeses from Vorarlberg and around the world, the selection includes, for example, Kellerbier cheese, a cheese aged with wildflowers, and even unusual items like cheese schnapps.
  • Gstach, Rankweil
    Winner of the “AMA Lukullus” award for Austria’s most beautiful farm store with direct sales and a popular and unique event venue (with catering). The store offers its own meat and sausage products, as well as items ranging from decorative goods and honey to gift baskets from other regional suppliers.
  • ’s Fachl, Dornbirn
    ’s Fachl is a haven for handmade, practical, and creative items. In this small shop in Dornbirn, you won’t find anything off the shelf—just authentic craftsmanship from small-scale producers in Vorarlberg, who can rent small display cases to showcase their products. It’s definitely worth a visit!
  • Alma, Hörbranz
    The Alma brand is synonymous with authentic and traditional cheese specialties from Vorarlberg. In addition to genuine Vorarlberg mountain cheese (PDO) from the Alma mountain dairies, the shops also offer a wide selection of hard cheeses, sliced cheeses, and spreadable cheeses, as well as other regional specialties.
  • bluvion Natural Cosmetics, Lustenau
    The natural cosmetics from the bluvion workshop are made in Lustenau using essences from flowers, spices, herbs, leaves, resins, and high-quality plant oils. The products are available at the workshop and online.
Brandnertal & Bludenz
  • Die Spezerei, Brand
    Mr. Durnwalder offers “all kinds of goods” from the Walser valleys, mainly culinary delights. Upon request, he also treats his guests to a glass of wine or a well-poured beer.
  • Fohrenburg “Lada,” Bludenz
    The “Lada” (shop) is located in the oldest building of the Fohrenburg Brewery. Here you’ll find Fohrenburg specialties, lemonades, exclusive spirits, wines, and merchandise.

All across the region, there are a number of stores, Käsehäuser, museum shops, and farm-direct stores that offer something special and a pleasant shopping experience.

Bregenzerwald
  • Bentele Shop, Alberschwende
    A shopping experience in a modern wooden building with floor-to-ceiling windows. In addition to honey, fine spirits, and their own line of honey-based skincare products, the Benteles offer exquisite culinary delicacies.
  • Metzler Molke, Egg
    In a modern wooden building with a steeply pitched roof, the innovative Metzler family sells skincare products made from whey, as well as goat and cow’s milk cheeses produced on their own farm. They also offer teas, spices, and spirits.
  • Bregenzerwald Käsehaus Andelsbuch, Feldkirch, Sulzberg
    The Käsehaus offers around 60 varieties of cheese, ranging from hard and soft cheeses to cream cheese. The selection also includes other culinary delicacies and home decor items. There is also a demonstration cheese dairy in Andelsbuch.
  • Werkraum Shop, Andelsbuch
    Located in the modern Werkraum Bregenzerwald, the shop offers innovative items crafted by artisans from the Bregenzerwald. Available items include sophisticated bottle openers, elegantly designed pepper mills, practical felt coasters, stylish wooden cutting boards, and much more.
  • Vögel Cheese Shop, Schwarzenberg
    In a traditional Bregenzerwald house, Katharina Bertsch sells carefully aged cheeses made from cow’s, goat’s, and sheep’s milk. The cheeses are aged in her own “Käs-Kär” (cheese cellar). The cheese shop was founded by Maria Vögel.
  • Alpenkäse Bregenzerwald
    In Bezau and several other towns in Vorarlberg, “Alpenkäse Bregenzerwald” sells mountain cheese, sliced cheese, alpine butter, cheese mixes for Kässpätzle, and several other specialties.
  • Ernele – Restaurant & Shop, Hittisau
    The modern wooden cube next to Hotel Das Schiff is “Ernele,” which serves as both a restaurant and a shop. Towering shelves are stocked with regional treasures, ranging from cheese to cookbooks.
  • Käsekeller, Lingenau
    About 30,000 cheese wheels are stored in the modern concrete building. The shop offers cheeses at various stages of ripeness, as well as sausages, whey-based skincare products, and gift items.
  • Shop Organic Farm Lingenhel, Doren
    In this cozy organic grocery store, the Lingenhel family offers high-quality organic products from their own farm and from other organic farmers in Vorarlberg, such as vegetables from the Vetterhof or eggs and spelt products from the Martinshof. Food can also be purchased unpackaged or in glass jars. A little paradise for organic food lovers.
  • Susanne Kaufmann Shop, Bezau
    Susanne Kaufmann’s products are characterized by their clean aesthetic and essences derived from the natural surroundings of the Bregenzerwald. Available at the brand’s own store in Bezau, at the Hotel Post Bezau, and in the online store.
  • CLARISSAKORK Shop, Hittisau
    CLARISSAKORK is an unconventional brand of cork rugs and home accessories—produced in Krumbach in the Bregenzerwald. At the shop in Hittisau in the Bregenzerwald, Clarissa and her team sell the entire product line.
Kleinwalsertal
  • s’hirscheck – Shop, Market, and Café, Hirschegg
    s’hirscheck combines a shop and a café. You can find a selection of products from the Kleinwalsertal, Vorarlberg, and the Allgäu. The selection also includes a few items from well-known Austrian manufacturers.
  • iKuh Shop – Beautiful Ideas, Hirschegg
    In a 400-year-old stable in Hirschegg in the Kleinwalsertal valley, Daniela and Michael Neumann offer delicious food and drinks. They also have lovely items for the home—all sourced from local producers, of course.
  • Gerd at the Stove – Local Delicatessen, Riezlern
    At the delicatessen, Gerd is indeed the one in the kitchen, preparing daily specials for takeout and ready-to-eat meals in jars. The selection also includes vegan delicacies, along with selected wines, organic products, treats such as homemade bread, and select products from Vorarlberg.
Lech Zürs am Arlberg
  • Rote Wand Hotel Shop, Zug
    Homemade goods—from beef goulash to jams and granola—are available in this stylish shop. You’ll also find a selection of personal care products, clay bowls, and clothing for men and women from the Lech-based label “Lenai & Linai.”
Montafon
  • Käsehaus Montafon, Schruns
    The store’s selection ranges from cheese to herbal teas and honey to cosmetics. The assortment changes constantly. All products come from the Montafon or the surrounding area.
  • Montafon Gourmet Boutique, Schruns
    Located in the center of Schruns, this boutique offers hand-selected products from the Montafon, Austria, and other countries. Products from the Montafon include “Sura Kees,” meat, sausages, honey, jams, teas, and decorative items.
