Meets you.

Bodensee-Vorarlberg

There’s plenty to discover between Lake Constance and the Rhine Valley. Historic town centres, contemporary architecture, cultural highlights and varied landscapes all shape the region.

Vibrant
Cultural life is part of everyday life here. Together with their surrounding areas, Bregenz, Dornbirn, Hohenems, Feldkirch, Lustenau, Nenzing and Rankweil offer a wide range of events, sights and experiences.

Enjoy an opera at the Bregenzer Festspiele, explore contemporary art at Kunsthaus Bregenz, stroll through Feldkirch’s medieval streets, listen to a Schubertiade concert in Hohenems or discover the natural world at inatura, Dornbirn’s interactive nature museum. In Bodensee-Vorarlberg, culture and nature are never far apart.

Hiking and cycling routes for all abilities, local cuisine, and boat trips on Lake Constance add to the experience. Whatever the season, the region’s towns, villages and surrounding countryside offer new ways to explore.

Rich in culture
Bodensee-Vorarlberg has a varied cultural scene. The internationally renowned Bregenzer Festspiele brings opera to its striking Lake Stage every summer. The festival celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2026, with Giuseppe Verdi’s La traviata on the Lake Stage programme in both 2026 and 2027.

The Bregenzer Frühling festival focuses on contemporary dance, while the Schubertiade brings outstanding classical concerts to Hohenems several times a year. In Feldkirch, Montfortspektakel and the Gauklerfestival offer distinctive cultural experiences. Summer also brings music and pop culture to the region, with the Poolbar Festival in Feldkirch and Szene Openair in Lustenau, which attracts visitors from across the region.

In Dornbirn, Spielboden and Conrad Sohm are among the venues shaping the local cultural scene. Spielboden brings together music, film, theatre, dance and social issues, while Conrad Sohm is best known for concerts and club nights.

Literature also has a home here. At Literaturhaus Vorarlberg in Hohenems, readings, discussions and events bring literature to life.

A passion for art
Contemporary art can be found in many places across Bodensee-Vorarlberg. The renowned Kunsthaus Bregenz hosts changing exhibitions by international artists. The building itself is also worth a visit: its glass cube was designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor.

At the vorarlberg museum in Bregenz, exhibitions explore the region’s history, art and culture. The Jewish Museum Hohenems also presents changing exhibitions, focusing on Jewish life past and present.

An eye for design
Vorarlberg is internationally known for its contemporary architecture. Glass, concrete and timber feature in many of the region’s buildings, often creating a close connection between architecture and the surrounding landscape.

The self-guided Architektouren routes introduce selected buildings and distinctive examples of local architecture. In Dornbirn, vai – the Vorarlberg Architecture Institute – offers exhibitions, events and opportunities to learn more about contemporary architecture.

Full of charm
Whether you enjoy being active or prefer a slower pace, Bodensee-Vorarlberg has plenty to offer. Hiking and cycling routes lead through the landscapes between Lake Constance, the Rhine Valley and the Walgau. In summer, outdoor pools, lakeside bathing areas and the lake itself are inviting places to cool off.

From Bregenz, boats take you to various destinations around Lake Constance. The Pfänder cable car offers an easy ride up the 1,064-metre Pfänder, where wide-ranging views open up across the lake and surrounding landscape.

In Dornbirn, the Karren cable car takes you up the 976-metre Karren. At the top, you’ll find the panoramic restaurant and the Karren-Kante viewing platform.
