Visiting Vorarlberg safely

The safety of our guests is top priority

Your hosts look forward to welcoming you. Our motto is “Visiting Vorarlberg safely.” This motto doubles as a promise that our local businesses will do everything in their power to ensure your safety. You can learn more about their methods here.

The Covid-19 prevention concept forms a solid foundation for the safety of one and all. All gastronomy and accommodation establishments, leisure and cultural facilities, sports venues and event organisers must arrange their day-to-day operations around regulations from the Austrian Federal Government. Additionally, all businesses must appoint a Covid-19 representative.

Covid-19 prevention concept

The Covid-19 prevention concept includes specific hygiene measures, regulations for the use of sanitary facilities (toilets/bathrooms), the consumption of food and beverages, or even guidelines on how to behave if a Covid-19 infection occurs. Other issues include avoiding congestion at “bottlenecks” – e.g., by using floor markings and controlling the flow of people.

The “Gastgeben auf Vorarlberger Art” programme offers external webinars on the topic of prevention and hygiene for hotels, as well as holiday apartment and private room accommodation providers. To date, hundreds of companies have already participated. In addition, employees use special e-learning tools to provide guests with information on applicable regulations whenever they have questions.

Trained employees

Covid-19 representatives are responsible for specific risk areas at their respective company and for developing the Covid-19 prevention concept. They keep an eye on ensuring that the measures are adhered to everywhere. They also serve as the contact person for the in-house team and also for you as a guest. For example, they answer questions about safety rules, guest tests or what to do when a potential Covid infection happens. Covid-19 representatives also provide employee trainings, which are conducted internally or externally.

Safety rating

Vorarlberg businesses that take safety to the next level carry the “Visiting Vorarlberg safely – Certified Business” seal of approval. Such businesses implement measures according to detailed checklists, receive practical tips on best practices, and also undergo regular reviews by external experts.

Regular Covid-19 testing

Covid-19 tests are another important safety pillar. Nowhere tests more than Vorarlberg. In recent months, it has become clear how important the screening programme is in keeping the pandemic at bay. That’s why domestic tourism officials continue to keep testing morale high – just as they did in the summer of 2021. Employees of Vorarlberg’s tourism businesses therefore regularly take part in a Covid-19 test programme. This applies to the staff of commercial accommodations, campsites, youth hostels, catering establishments as well as private room renters, travel agents or tourist guides.

Guests must be vaccinated, tested or recovered

In addition to a negative test result, evidence of a Covid-19 vaccination or recovery is, of course, also valid. The safety formula “vaccinated, tested or recovered” opens the doors to hotels, gastronomy, sports, leisure and cultural events throughout your stay: You will need to present proof of your status when you first check into your accommodation. This also applies to holiday apartments, campsites, hostels or holidays on the farm.

But what happens if…

In the event of a positive test, guests should contact the 1450 Health Hotline and inform their hosts. Next, a PCR test is arranged, the result of which is available after a maximum of 48 hours. Until then, guests must remain in the room where they will, of course, be taken care of by the host.

Generous cancellation policy

To make the holiday decision-making process easier this summer, Vorarlberg’s accommodation providers are offering their guests generous cancellation terms. Nevertheless, we recommend that all prospective holidaymakers take out a Corona travel cancellation insurance. Please contact the travel insurance company you trust.
