The route begins at the village square in Warth and heads toward the Wolfegg district, from where you’ll follow the path uphill to the Alte Salzstraße junction. Via the Alte Salzstraße—a somewhat narrow path—you’ll reach the valley station of the Jägeralp-Express. From there, a trail continues on to the Hochtannberg Pass. Here, you’ll park your bike and continue the hike on foot.

On the opposite side of the road, follow the trail straight up—to the right of the Krumbach—to the Widdersteinhütte. Behind the Widdersteinhütte, the trail continues to the Widderstein. Passing the Widderstein’s southwest summit, the trail continues to the Widderstein.

Once on the Widderstein, you’ve earned a well-deserved break, during which you can enjoy the breathtaking view.

On the way back, turn right at the fork in the trail and continue along the path; with a stunning view over the Hochalpsee, the route continues over the Seekopf and the Hochalppass down to the Hochtannberg Pass.

Once you reach the Hochtannberg Pass, hop back on your bike and follow the main road for a few meters to the Salober parking lot. From there, a farm road leads you to the Salobersattel and on to Auenfeld. Just before you cross beneath the Auenfeld, keep to the right and follow the path along the Auenfeld to Schröcken.

Note: The tour can also be started from Schröcken.

Important note: Bring a bike lock and lock your bike.
