A short but challenging summit tour through the land of marmots and ibexes. For sure-footed hikers who are free from vertigo.

The first stage of approx. 1.5 hours to the hut Göppinger leads along a beautiful hiking trail through pine and mountain pine slopes and across extensive meadows. Always in view our goal with the associated mountain range up to the Braunarlspitze. Through the rugged limestone landscape, which is home to many marmots, we reach the plateau of the hut Göppinger. The way to the summit, passing the hut, becomes from now on stony and alpine. Ibexes often cross our path, which winds its way to the summit with some exposed climbing passages. At the cross a wonderful panoramic view of the Valluga, the Red Wall in Zug Valley and the Omeshorn awaits us. The way back is the same – the Göppingerhütte at 2.300m with a wonderful view is very convenient as a stop before we descend. The Älpele inn, our start and end point, is also a good place to eat. If you are still motivated, you can walk the hiking trail along the river back to Lech.

Caution: there is a risk of slipping in wet conditions. Surefootedness is also required in dry conditions. The Hochlichtspitze at sunrise is also a great experience during a hike lasting several days. An overnight stay at the hut Göppinger is the ideal starting point

  • Directions

The starting and finishing point of the hike is the Älpele inn in the Zug Valley (in the season the day ticket for the bus costs €17 for the toll road). Behind the Alpe, the marked path first leads along a road leading to a small hut. From there, a hiking trail leads to the plateau on which the hut Göppinger (2,245 m) is located. We leave the hut on the left and follow the alpine path straight ahead towards Hochlichtspitze. From here it takes about 45 minutes through alpine terrain up to the summit. Return via the same path down to the starting point.
