From Lake Formarin to summit Saladinaspitze
-
Höhenprofil
The summit Saladina peak is a striking peak in the Lechquell mountains, whose ascent can be started from the Dalaas side as well as from the lake Formarinsee side.
From the car park near Lake Formarinsee, the gravel path leads to the Freiburger Hütte. After the Hut Freiburger the trail continues towards the Steinernes Meer. After about 5-10 min, a signposted path leads to the right in the direction of summit Saladinaspitze or Fensterlewand. The path is not very challenging, it goes moderately uphill over grass slopes. Passing two big stone men, it goes downhill over a block field. After the block field the path leads uphill again over the NW flank to the SW ridge. Over the ridge and finally over a steep ascent at the end, you reach the summit. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are prerequisites for the tour. The way back is the same again.
The Freiburger Hütte is the ideal place to stop before or after the tour. Lake Formarin was voted Austria's most beautiful square in 2015.
