  • Directions

    A sparsely frequented hiking route that promises good views of the Bregenzerwald mountains and the nearby regions. For the most rewarding views, mount to the rim of the Lug and on the following ridge trail to Annalper Joch. In the west, watch out for the verdant south flank of the massive Kanisfluh with the Holenke summit; if you are lucky, you will be able to spot ibex and chamois. At Annal per Joch, you can make out the Raetikon massif on the horizon to the south. The way down is marked by stark contrasts: close-by, the pointed, almost off- putting needles and peaks of the Annalper Stecken, the Hochkünzel, Toblermannskopf und Zitterklapfen peaks , always a demanding challenge for mountain climbers. We, however, hike across al pine pastures to the tune of cow bells at the height of summer.

    In the early morning, we are welcome to watch the dairy-farmers at work. Later, the Bergkristall shelter with good views into the fierce Dürrenbach valley, across to the Diedamsko pf ski and hiking area and the im posing pyramid-like Üntschenspitze, beckons for a well-deserved rest. At your feet, the village of Au Scho ppernau, home to families of baroque master builders and to Franz-Michael Felder, a writer and social reformer (museum).
