Factbox

  • This Walserhaus, located directly on the road, is built in the typical wooden knitting style. The flat saddle roof protrudes far ahead. The original wooden shingle roofing has been replaced by bitumen shingles. The entrance area on the south side, the “Brüüge”, is protected by the front roof. This wooden podium is a facility that can only be found in the Kleinwalsertal, which is often used with its bench for a chat, Walser “Hängert”, with neighbors and acquaintances. Only the front, so room and chamber (bedroom) is a basement. In the upper floor are the upper room and upper chamber. A small peculiarity is the “plague hole” to supply the inhabitants of Pest with food. To this farmhouse also belongs a stable, which according to the Walser settlement type is a stone’s throw away – down on the opposite side of the street. The new valley road from 1930 separated stable and residential house.
