Schul- und Mesnerhaus

Schul- und Mesnerhaus
Kulturweg: Schul- und Mesnerhaus

Factbox

  • In 1716 a school house was built in Hirschegg on the site of the “picture stable”, probably near the present bus stop “Adler”. Until then, the Hirschegger attended the school in Mittelberg. In 1748, due to the poor condition and the limited space, the school was relocated to the upper room of the Kaplan and Mesnerhaus. It was also said that most children can reach the school in the Mesnerhaus easier and safe during the harsh winter months. In 1789, the Mesnerhaus burned down completely. In 1790 the present vicarage was built and in 1793 the Mesnerhaus was rebuilt, together with a large schoolroom. After over 90 years, this building no longer met the requirements, and so it came to an end in 1886. A little further west of the rectory today’s Mesnerhaus was built.
