Heimatmuseum Paarhof “Buacher”, Bürserberg
-
The community of Bürserberg looks back on over a half millenium of continuous settlement. Unique in its location and variety of landscapes, the community has had an eventful past. In the Paarhof Buacher local museum, homage is paid to traditions and customs which gave the community’s ancestors the strength and stamina to create one of the most beautiful mountain villages in the region – despite all of the adversities and setbacks, and faced with a “rugged and wild mountain surroundings”, as one chronical put it.
From 1991 to 1993 this historic farmstead was re-located from the district of Tschapina to its ideal place in the center of the community. This over 300-year-old Walser house uniquely reflects Walser settlement traditions, with its insights into mountain farmers’ earlier living and working conditions. In addition to a presentation of the historical past of the community, special exhibits are put on to display a wide variety of changing topics.
