Hotel Hubertus

Relax and feel good at the Hotel Hubertus, a completely refurbished modular-design concept made from timber.

With its modular design, the Hotel Hubertus in Mellau in the Bregenzerwald was constructed in just 11 weeks. This welcoming, informal establishment is unobtrusively integrated into the surrounding environment in harmony with the traditional architecture of the locality.

“Old and new forms synergise at the Hotel Hubertus. The unity of these elements is compelling. For this project, the advantages of timber as a construction material were optimised. Construction in just 11 short weeks would not have been possible if the elements had not been built in advance,” explained Isabella Marboe, architecture journalist and member of the expert panel “Bau.Genial” that awarded the prize. The jury was especially impressed by the architecturally calm and timeless impression that the building made. These factors are particularly important in the field of tourism, where thinking is often seasonal and emphasis is placed on visual impact and style.

The addition houses the sauna area, a restaurant with terrace and comfortable modern rooms with a view of the surrounding mountain landscape. The family who own the hotel believe in clear design, a relaxed atmosphere, heartfelt service, and culinary delights from the region.

The Hubertus was awarded the inaugural “Bau.Genial” prize for the hotel industry in 2014.
