Climbing

There are around 33 official sport climbing parks in Bregenzerwald, Rheintal, Walgau, Montafon and Arlberg, with numerous routes covering all levels of difficulty. The rock climbing parks are well secured and are inspected regularly. Vorarlberg offers a great deal of variety within a very small area – climbers can find different types of stone between the Rheintal valley and the Silvretta Alps. The Vorarlberg sport climbing parks consists mainly of limestone rock faces in a wide variety of formations, but they also range from sandstone to gneiss and conglomerate.

For training or as an alternative for bad weather, there are climbing and bouldering halls of varying sizes. Lots of mountaineering schools offer children’s climbing, beginners’ courses, and technique and safety training, amongst other things.
