Hike with llamas, alpacas or huskies

Family experiences in Vorarlberg: Hiking with llamas, alpacas and huskies is an experience that features stunning views and excitement for all ages.

Horst Kuster and his llamas live at Bartholomäberg in the Montafon at a prime location with panoramic views. They regularly go on a hike and are pleased about anyone wanting to join. On the four- to five-hour trekking tours, the llamas carry the luggage and accompany the group safely through the mountains. Along the way, llamero Horst and hiking guide Imelda share stories about the landscape, the people and traditions in Montafon. Throughout Vorarlberg you will find various opportunities to hike with llamas or alpacas.

“Husky Toni organises summer hikes with huskies in Brandnertal, around Lake Lünersee for instance. Hikers and dogs are tied to one another by a waist strap. In this way, the dogs assist you in walking.

Daniela from Montafon-Alpakas offers guided alpaca hikes in Gaschurn, Montafon. After a short introduction, you hike with the five alpacas on leisurely trails through the forest. The total duration is 1.5h – 2h. Bookings can be made directly on the homepage www.montafon-alpakas.at.

Accompanied by alpacas and llamas, families can set off together with Birgit Knecht-Burghard from Röns. The hikes and programs in nature take place by individual arrangement.

In Zwischenwasser at 950 m above sea level, surrounded by meadows and forests, live the Sennewiese alpacas of the Matt family (creative workshop “Schaffenslust”). There is a varied program around the alpacas with a photo safari, alpaca hiking tour, children’s birthday party or even an alpaca picnic.
