Trekking with llamas is a family experience
Hike with llamas or alpacas
Family experiences in Vorarlberg: Hiking with llamas and alpacas in the snow is an experience that features stunning views and excitement for all ages.
Against the backdrop of beautiful scenery, Horst Kuster lives with his llamas in Bartholomäberg near Schruns in Montafon. Along with hikers, he and his llamas set out on 4-hour trekking tours in winter. The llamas carry the baggage and guide excited hikers through the snow. Having arriving at the Panoramagasthof Kristberg the llamas are tied up outdoors – in the meantime the hikers can refresh themselves as they wish in the inn. Afterwards Adolf Zudrell provides information (in German) on the history of mining in the Montafon during a tour of the St. Agatha miners’ chapel, the oldest church in the Montafon. After the excursion, the adventure group will head on back toward Bartholomäberg-Innerberg.
In Gaschurn the “Haus Mair” offers approx. 1.5 hour hikes on leisurely paths through the nearby forest with the three alpacas Rocco, Rio and Lascar.
Birget Knecht from Röns provides therapeutic programmes centred around hiking with llamas and alpacas. She would be happy to organise an individualised tour.
