Kristbergbahn mountain station - water wheel - Kirchliwald - Kristberg saddle - Silbertal forest school - St. Agatha mountain miner's chapel - Kristberg panoramic inn (Silverspielwelt) - Kristbergbahn mountain station

The educational trail is especially recommended for families and interested groups. In beautiful nature, twelve partly interactive stations bring visitors closer to the fascination of mining. At the end of the path near the miner’s chapel and below the Kristberg panoramic inn, the “Silverspielwelt” awaits children as an additional attraction. Various play elements make mining experiential for all senses here and allow children to dive into the work world of miners.

This LEADER project was realized in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck, the municipality of Silbertal, and the Kristberg panoramic inn.

The Montafon, especially Silbertal and Bartholomäberg, is closely connected to medieval mining. To make the mining history and its modern scientific research comprehensible, a research educational trail named “Silberpfad” was established by the Kristbergbahn in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck, the municipality of Silbertal, and the Kristberg panoramic inn at Kristberg.

  • Directions

The Silberpfad starts at the Kristbergbahn mountain station and leads valleywards towards Siebenbrünnele/Wildried. After the mountain pastures on the right side, there is a water wheel opposite. Shortly after the water wheel, follow the Silberpfad signposting. You branch off from the conventional hiking trail. The Silberpfad leads slightly downhill. After the loop, you cross the hiking trail and follow the path uphill. Through the forest, you then reach the Kristberg saddle. Once there, follow the gravel road valleywards to the Silbertal forest school. A break is recommended at Hugelsee. Meanwhile, you can enjoy a nice view. On the left side of the lake, you follow the path and the trail leads slightly downhill. Shortly afterwards you reach the St. Agatha mountain miner’s chapel or the Kristberg panoramic inn. Below the inn is a great playground, the Silverspielwelt. While your children enjoy themselves on the playground, you can take a break at the Kristberg panoramic inn. Via a short ascent, you return to the starting point – the mountain station.
