Peak tour Großer Widderstein
-
Höhenprofil
This hike leads from the large hiking car park in Hochkrumbach to the striking summit of the Großer Widderstein. A good step and good orientation are necessary for this tour.
The summit of the Großer Widderstein is probably one of the most striking peaks in the region and is clearly recognisable. This is one of the reasons why, in the summer months, many guests come to this special mountain, the summit of which can be reached in about 3 hours from the Hochkrumbach hiking car park. On the way back, the hut Widdersteinhütte invites you to a well-deserved snack before descending into the valley. Up to the Widdersteinhütte a beautiful path leads over alpine meadows, which can be slippery when wet. About 20 minutes after the Widderstein hut the trail continues in rocky terrain.

A stop at the Widdersteinhütte is definitely worthwhile.

Directions
By car or hiking bus from Lech Zürs to Warth and finally to Hochkrumbach. Behind the Hotel Adler there is a large car park for hikers. From here the tour starts on the opposite side. From the valley, one already sees the Widdersteinhütte, in the direction of which one hikes at the beginning. At the beginning, it partly goes up steeply over alpine meadows. In some places, the path is very earthy and slippery after rains. Altogether, however, the path is in a good condition. After about 1 hour one has reached the Widdersteinhütte. Here, shortly below the hut, a path branches off towards the summit, but one can also take the path over the hut if one wants to eat before the summit ascent. About 20 minutes after the hut, the path to the summit branches off to the right. From here, the character of the tour changes, it becomes rockier and steeper. From here, sure-footedness and good orientation are required, it goes over rock bands and small rock steps from one marking to the next. About 1 hour it goes up in the rocky terrain, before one reaches the summit ridge. From here it takes about 20 minutes up to the beautiful summit. Here, one can enjoy the view into the Allgäuer Alps, the Bregenzerwald, the Lechtal and over to the Karhorn extensively, before it goes over the same way down again to the parking lot.
