On this scenic delight route at the sunny balcony of Montafon, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view into the Rätikon, over the alpine town of Bludenz and the Walgau area.

This moderate snowshoe tour will make you dream. During your tour, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic distant view of the Rätikon with its impressive peaks. The well-known mountain peaks of the Zimba, Drei Türme, as well as the Drusenfluh and the Sulzfluh, are displayed before you. But even the immediate surroundings during your tour are picturesque. Not as rugged as the Rätikon mountains, but rather gentle, you have a picture-book landscape around you throughout the tour. After you have left the historic mine behind on your ascent, the tour leads you a bit higher over the Fritzensee to finally reach the Alpengasthaus Rellseck via a wide left curve. Here you have a fantastic panoramic view over the alpine town of Bludenz and the adjacent Walgau area. From here, the path leads downhill back to the Baroque church Bartholomäberg.

Carry a change of clothes in your backpack so that you are dry and warm during the last downhill section.

  • Directions

The snowshoe hike starts at the parking lot opposite the Baroque church Bartholomäberg. Follow the marking cross-country up to the Hennakopf settlement. You will cross the Roferweg and again follow the route cross-country up to the historic mine. Until then, you will cross the Roferweg about 3 more times.

Now you reach the Knappagruaba area. Continuing uphill, you then come to the snow-covered Fritzensee, an idyllic spot that is a secret tip in every season. It is a good place to take a break and linger a little.

Now walk left along the lake and continue uphill on the Almeinweg towards the alpine hut. Now go left, continuing uphill. The next landmark is the well-hidden hunting lodge, which is also the highest point of the snowshoe hike. In good weather and clear visibility, you have a wonderful panoramic view from here. From here, the path leads comfortably and gently downhill to the Alpengasthaus Rellseck. The Alpengasthaus Rellseck invites you to a refreshment in a great setting. Before starting the descent, it is worth changing clothes at the guesthouse.

The way back to the center of Bartholomäberg passes the nearby shingle-roofed chapel. At the chapel, there is another fantastic view towards Bludenz and the Walgau area. On a section of the geological hiking trail, which is dotted with information boards, you now hike downhill through a loosened coniferous forest. You return to the starting point via the areas “Sälers-Legi, Neyers-Legi” and Linda.
