    AN ARTISTICALLY THEMED TRAIL, THE GREEN RING RUNS AROUND LECH AND ZÜRS IN THREE STAGES. EN ROUTE, THERE ARE INTERESTING STATIONS AND PLENTY OF BENCHES AT BEAUTIFUL LOOKOUTS

    GEOTRAIL AT RÜFIKOPFA geotrail was built at the Rüfikopf plateau with the support of the Swiss Technical University ETH in Zurich. The walking time is approx. 2.5 hours. “Stone witnesses” tell the history of the Alps, which goes back about 200 million years. Hikers will come across fossil shells and octopuses, which once lived close to the equator. Flowers and herbs form a delightful contrast to the rock formations, with lake Monzabon like a sparkling diamond between them.

  • Directions

    Starting from the hiker’s base at the post office, the trail runs along the Lech promenade upstream until you reach the Rüfikopf cable car to the left. Take the gondola lift up to Rüfikopf (2350 m). Now take the Rüfikopf geotrail downhill towards lake Monzabon and continue further downhill to Monzabonalpe. Shortly before you cross the Pazüel creek, you will come across the mountain hut library. Here, hikers may pick up a beautiful book, read, rest and relax. Continue on the broad alp trail, passing the valley terminal of the Trittkopf lift, to Zürs am Arlberg. From Zürs you may take the regional bus to the point of departure and take a small detour to the European watershed. Follow the road through Zürs until you reach the Trittkopf lift, where a meadow trail meanders across alpine pastures where cattle graze. Keep following the creek to Flexenpass. Having reached Flexenpass, you simply have to cross the road to spot this installation directly next to the Flexenhäusl.
