The air smells wonderfully of summer – culture moves outdoors with events such as the Emsiana cultural festival in Hohenems, the Schubertiade, the Bregenz Live Festival on Kornmarktplatz, city walks to art objects in public spaces, cultural themed hikes, exciting city tours, new exhibitions in museums and galleries, and festivals in towns and villages.

Lake Constance also exudes a special atmosphere with its Mediterranean-style shores. The ships of Vorarlberg Lines (starting April 3, 2026) and Historische Schifffahrt Bodensee offer a variety of trips on the steamboat Hohentwiel or the Art Deco ship MS Oesterreich – enjoy the spring-fresh Lake Constance!

01 Culture festival emsiana 2026

The festival emsiana 2026 is dedicated to travel in all its facets: between music and art, history and architecture, literature and performance. As always, the cultural festival also opens the doors to special, often hidden places in our city. Over four days, a diverse program full of stories, encounters, and changes of perspective unfolds.

02 Internationales Tanzfestival Bregenzer Frühling

Under this year’s title “Keep Dreaming, Baby,” Bregenzer Frühling invites you to embrace dreaming as a way of life. For almost four decades, the international dance festival has stood for excellence and made Bregenz a hub for contemporary dance. From March to June 2026, four extraordinary productions by international companies, a new work by the aktionstheater ensemble, and a special collaboration with the Kunsthaus Bregenz will be presented.

03 Propstei St. Gerold

The cultural program has also resumed at the idyllically located Propstei St. Gerold in the mountains of the Great Walser Valley. The diverse program ranges from art tours to organ concerts, classical concerts (including the “Alemannische Passion”) and singing. Psychological courses and lectures as well as training with horses are also offered. Culinary delights are also not neglected in the architecturally renovated provostry..

04 Bodenseefestival "In Bewegung"

The annual cross-border festival organizes concerts and cultural events around Lake Constance in the most beautiful locations that this three-country region has to offer. This year’s artist in residence is the exceptional Austrian violinist Nicolas Altstaedt.

05 Delightful moments with music at the gate

The motto of the 2025 annual program is “Longing” and, following the New Year’s concert, kicks off in April with an extremely diverse concert year in 2026:

Concert No. 2, entitled
#Zartheit I Wo das Leise trägt (Tenderness I Where the quiet carries),
will take place on April 16 and 17 at the Pförtnerhaus Feldkirch and on April 18 at the Frauenmuseum Hittisau.

06 Spring sounds at Hohenems Palace

The 2026 concert season of the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra Hohenems began with a concert aptly titled “Frühlingsduft” (Scent of Spring) and promises a multifaceted program of the highest musical quality featuring both classical and contemporary compositions, emphasizes Stéphanie Waldburg-Zeil, president of the Friends of the Chamber Orchestra. A total of seven concert events will be presented this year in the special ambience of the palace in Hohenems.

07 Meeting place - Villa Falkenhorst

Villa Falkenhorst has been a cultural center in Walgau for over 20 years. A variety of cultural events take place on the premises and in the villa’s large park. A sculpture park can also be seen in the park every year. A special focus is placed on cultural education for children and young people—the Youth Creative Program takes place during the summer holidays.

08 Traveling in style on Lake Constance

Come aboard the Art Deco motor ship Oesterreich or the DS Hohentwiel and experience Lake Constance in spring—historic and varied excursions are possible again, from culinary “Ländle” dinners to jazz breakfasts—the lake has a particularly enchanting and refreshing aura in spring!

09 A house for literature

In 2025, the Literaturhaus Vorarlberg opened in the historic Villa Franziska and Iwan Rosenthal in Hohenems. The carefully revitalized, listed building was thus transformed into a place for literature, encounters, and creative exchange. Since February, visitors have been able to enjoy the atmosphere of the house over a cozy cup of coffee in the newly opened café “Rosa & Rot.”

10 Admire art objects in the open air

We invite you to encounter art outdoors while taking a walk in the fresh spring air—pause and learn more about art objects by Vorarlberg artists in public spaces, with no admission fee and no time pressure. Immerse yourself in these special places and let your thoughts run free! From Gerry Ammann’s popular selfie spot “Lichttunnel” (Light Tunnel) on the Bregenz lake promenade to Mirjam Prantl’s “Erdenlicht” (Earth Light) on the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe.
