The hike begins at the village square in Warth and heads toward the Wolfegg district, from where you’ll follow the path uphill to the Alte Salzstraße turnoff. Following the Alte Salzstraße—a somewhat narrow trail—you’ll reach the valley station of the Jägeralp-Express.

From there, a wide farm road leads you uphill to the Hochalphütte. From the Hochalphütte, the trail continues uphill, past the Panoramasee. Once you reach the Salober-Jet mountain station, the trail leads downhill to the Salobersattel. At this intersection, turn left once and continue on to Auenfeld. At the Auenfelder Hütte, the trail continues on foot.

Keep to the left to reach Bürstegg.

Once you reach Bürstegg, you’ve earned a well-deserved break in a breathtaking setting.

The return trip follows the same route you took on the way up.

Note: The tour can also be started from Schröcken. Start from the village center and ride along the municipal road between the church and the tourist office. At a sharp left-hand curve, turn right and follow the farm road to Auenfeld.

Important note: Bring a bike lock and lock up your bike.
