    From the train station in Oberstdorf, the trail leads mostly on asphalt at first, with some gravel sections, climbing steadily up to the Speicherhütte. Some short sections are very steep and may require you to walk your bike. From the Speicherhütte onward, you’ll mostly have to walk your bike. After crossing the Haldenwanger Bach, the ascent to the Schrofen Pass begins. 

    The narrow mule trail to the pass summit requires you to carry your bike on your left shoulder (toward the valley), using your right hand to hold onto a wire rope secured at particularly exposed sections. 

    The border between Germany and Austria is located at the pass summit. The descent follows a narrow trail—which is rideable only in places—down to Lechleiten. From there, the route continues on asphalt to the main road; then turn right, and the federal highway will take you on to Warth.
