Warth | Karhorn via ferrata east ridge

The tour starts at the top station of the Steffisalp-Express. Once you arrive at the top station, head straight up along a hiking trail. When you reach the Wartherhornsattel, you’ll need your via ferrata gear.

This is where the via ferrata begins. The east ridge of the via ferrata runs continuously from the start to the summit at difficulty level A/B. This section is therefore ideal for all via ferrata beginners and those with some basic via ferrata experience.

From the summit, the descent follows the “Normal Route” on the south side of the Karhorn massif back down.

The trail then continues along the base of the Karhorn back to the Wartherhorn Saddle.

The return trip follows the same route as the ascent.

Summit tip: If you still have enough energy left, you can hike up to the Wartherhorn from the Wartherhorn Sattel.

Tip: Early risers can skip the Steffisalp Express and walk the rest of the way to the mountain station.

Note: The via ferrata may only be traversed with via ferrata equipment!
