Krumbach is known for its moorland which provides the people here with fruit and herbs as well as meadowland for old breeds of domestic animals which they have begun to breed again. In one hotel, the special properties of the peaty soil isused for health and wellness purposes. The village also has its own special method of decision-making. In various committees, all the inhabitants of Krumbach can vote on the development of their village. This results in internationally recognised projects such as “BUS:STOP” comprising busshelters by architects from the four cornersof the world, regional improvements such as “Krumbach shines without chemicals”and “Young Forest” as well as programmes for locals and guests alike offered as part of the “Krumbach moors” initiative.

On each walk, information columns draw attention to a building, to the special features of the cultural landscape, to artisanal or ecological details, to facets of artistic, culinary or touristic works.

A walk through the Moor of Krumbach is always an experience: The special features of the various areas in Krumbach moor are disclosed on a walk comprising a total of 14 viewpoints and their “Moorsitze” (moor seats). From the special “Moorraum” (moor room), you get a view of the 17,000-year-old moor biotope of Salgenreute.

  • Directions

At signpost 45.01 in front of the village hall, head towards “Halden”. Initially, you walk downhill along the street, past the central bus stop. Stay on the yellow-and-white marking and, once you are opposite house no. 176, turn off to the left. Follow this path straight ahead until you reach the“Unterkrumbach” bus stop, where you will once again come to the B road. Here, youturn off to the left and take the asphalt path as far as house no. 228. There, you will see the yellow-and-white marked hikingpath which takes you up to the pleasantly located house no. 198 (country lane). At signpost 45.15, continue towards “Wüste Waldweg”. In the wood (footpath), you soon come to a wide agricultural path which you follow (please note: no longer follow the yellow-and-white marking into the wood!). Stay on this gravel path until you reach the B road where, on the pavement, you walk for about 100 m to the left. Opposite “Villa Diana”, you turn off to the right onto an asphalt road, and continue to “Oberkrumbach”. There, keep to the left until you reach signpost 45.22, then follow the white-red-white marking towards “Schweizberg”. At the end of the gravel path, however, you turn off to the left (no longer take the white-red-white marking uphill) and follow an asphalt road downhill to the “Bränden” bus stop. From here, a pavement running alongside the B road takes you back to Krumbach centre.
