    The Lechweg is a moderate-difficulty long-distance hiking trail that winds through our Alpine region, which is also one of Europe’s last remaining wild river landscapes. An untamed Lech River, people shaped by the landscape, and legendary stories await you!

    Stretching over 125 kilometers, the Lechweg connects five regions and two countries: Austria—including the Arlberg region in Vorarlberg and the Lechtal and Reutte Nature Park region in Tyrol—and the southern Allgäu in Germany. The Lech rises from its source near Lake Formarin in Vorarlberg and, after an exciting and untamed course through beautiful regions, flows into the Lechfall in Füssen in the Allgäu.

    The numerous stages pass by one of Europe’s largest ibex colonies, a waterfall that, as if by magic, dries up every year only to spring forth anew, and Austria’s longest pedestrian bridge that’s free to cross. And don’t forget the Bavarian royal castles at the end of the trail! Turquoise-blue, crystal-clear water, smooth rock slabs, and small wooden bridges are a true feast for the eyes.

    On the Lechweg, you’ll find relaxation and tranquility alongside wonderful trails running along the water.
