    This circular route offers a dreamlike summit experience with a gigantic panoramic view of the surrounding mountain ranges of Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta. For a cozy break during the hike, the Alpe Nova entices with regional delicacies such as the Montafoner Sura Kees, which is produced here in the summer months in the local dairy. Along the forest path, wonderful views open up repeatedly into the valley and towards the Maisäß settlement Garfrescha, where the circular route ends.

    You should definitely try our Montafoner Sura Kees, because you have only truly been in Montafon if you have experienced this taste sensation.

  • Directions

    From the mountain station of the Garfrescha Bahn, it soon goes steeply uphill to Gantakopf and along the panoramic mountain ridge further to Nova Stoba. Forest and open pasture areas alternate on the route. The path leads down into Novatal and past Alpe Nova on a forest road back to the starting point Garfrescha.

    The regional buses run throughout Montafon. The main lines operate every half hour from Schruns station.

    Travel by train to Montafon

    From Bludenz station, the Montafonerbahn runs hourly (partly every half hour). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) and Bregenz.

    Approach:

    Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on Montafonerstraße L188 to St. Gallenkirch. At the sign for Garfrescha Bahn, turn right and follow the road to the Garfrescha Bahn.
