From the center of Schröcken, ride past the tourist office and the church along the municipal road. At a sharp left-hand curve, turn right and follow the wide gravel path uphill to Auenfeld.

Cross the Auenfeldsattel pass and head toward Oberlech. When you reach the first houses, follow the paved municipal road downhill until you reach the main road. There, turn right and ride into the center of Lech.

When you reach the village fountain, turn right toward Zug. At the fork in the road after the bridge, keep left.

Then follow the road past the toll booth through the Zugertal valley. After about an hour, you’ll reach a fork in the road. There, keep to the right and continue along the paved road toward Formarinsee.

At the bus turnaround, continue along the wide gravel road. After a few meters, Formarinsee comes into view. Once you reach Formarinsee, keep to the right at the forks in the trail. Now it’s time to continue the tour on foot.

From here, the ascent leads up the grassy slopes on the south side to the Lange Furka and on via the Obere Laguz Alpe to the Oberes Sättele. Surrounded by red limestone and featuring some easy climbing sections, the trail leads higher and higher along the north ridge.

Once you reach the summit ridge—which is narrow and exposed in places—full concentration is required. With the summit cross already within sight, you must still master the final ascent to 2,704 m. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with a magnificent 360° panorama. The view back toward the starting point, Lake Formarin, is also breathtaking. The descent follows the same route as the ascent.

Note: This tour requires a head for heights! There are a few short climbing sections to navigate along the way.

Once you arrive in the center of Lech, you can take the bike bus back from the Schloßkopf bus stop.

Note: The tour can also be started from Warth. From there, the route goes through the village of Wolfegg along the Alte Salzstraße to the Jägeralp-Express valley station. From there, the trail continues to the Salober. To the right of the Saloberjet valley station, a wide gravel path leads uphill. From there, follow the trail to the Auenfeldsattel.

Important note: Bring a bike lock and lock up your bike.
