Bartholomäberg via Monteneu to the Wannaköpf
-
Höhenprofil
From Bartholomäberg to the Wannaköpfe. A scenic route where you move in picturesque surroundings and can usually enjoy nature alone.
The start of this route is the Baroque Church Bartholomäberg. From here, it goes steadily uphill to the Wannaköpfe. Past the historic mine, you hike with your snowshoes over the Fritzensee up to Monteneu. Here it is worth taking a short rest on the bench at the cross. You will have a magnificent view down into the valley. It is recommended to take the time during the whole route to enjoy the incredibly beautiful view into the Rätikon. You will get a view of the well-known mountains Drei Türme, Sulzfluh, Drusenfluh, and Zimba. This sight makes up for all the exertion. Once at the Wannaköpfe, you also have a wonderful view over the alpine town of Bludenz and the adjacent Walgau area. The return path follows the same way you came.
Take some snacks and warm drinks with you. Use the wonderful view at Monteneu or on the Wannaköpf to recharge your energy reserves.

Directions
The start of the route is the Baroque Church Bartholomäberg. From the parking lot next to the church, the route leads you over the meadow slopes up to the Knappagruaba, the former ore mining area. On this stretch, you must cross the road several times. Past the Fritzensee, it continues uphill towards Monteneu-Wannaköpf to the hunting lodge. From the hunting lodge, you march uphill towards Monteneu (1883m). This is also where the marked winter signage ends. For fit snowshoe hikers, the goal is the Wannaköpf (2031m), but only with avalanche transceiver equipment and after studying the avalanche report during the route planning. You return to the starting point via the same path.
