    The path leads through the Ill-Au and widely scattered houses and farms, between which lie pastures and gardens. On the route, the agricultural character of the place can be very well recognized. From the church, it goes down to the Ill, along a shady forest path to Gortipohl, up to the sunny side of the valley and past open meadows and stables back to St. Gallenkirch.

    Your hike begins in the village center of St. Gallenkirch. In front of the town hall, you will find a fountain by the bus stop. Now you have to cross the street and go down the narrow street. There you continue going down, cross the cycle path and follow the path to the Ill. After crossing the wooden bridge, turn left to the Gääschärm. You are welcome to enter the Gääschärm as well. Now an idyllic forest path leads you along the Ill towards Gortipohl. At some point, you will see the Garfrescha railway on the left side of the stream. However, you continue to follow the path on the right side of the stream until you reach a covered wooden bridge. You cross over it and follow the path through the Hüttnertobel uphill past the pest chapel to the next junction. Here you go left and find a wonderful view over St. Gallenkirch. You have reached the meadow path. From here you follow the meadow path back to the center of St. Gallenkirch.

    The regional buses operate throughout Montafon. The main lines run every half hour from Schruns train station.

    Arrival by train to Montafon

    From Bludenz station, the Montafon railway runs hourly (partly every half hour). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) or from Bregenz.

    Approach:

    Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on the Montafonerstraße L188 to St. Gallenkirch.
