das TSCHOFEN

Located in the historic heart of Bludenz, this city hotel is both elegant and down-to-earth

Master stucco plasterer Sandro Preite and his sister Valentina have been running this new city hotel in Bludenz since December 2018. All measures have been designed to preserve and maximise the potential of this historically protected building.

Beyond revitalising a building, the idea of also revitalising the city has gripped me from the very outset.

A feasibility study and concrete planning phase soon followed. The Tschofen family’s erstwhile commercial building is compelling from both construction and urban planning perspectives. The building and its façade paintings are a striking landmark in the cityscape. In former times, ironware was sold here and then later “Tscherpa-Tschofa” crockery and porcelain goods.

As renovations took place at this historically protected property, particular attention was paid to retaining the original structure as far as possible. Ensuring that the building was filled with life was an additional top priority. To this end, the old Bludenz café “Eberle” was given space on the ground floor. Meanwhile, the 11 bright and airy rooms on the upper floors were discreetly decorated with selected materials. Artistic works by Ruth Gschwendter-Wölfle and specially created tiled walls pay tribute to the building’s rich history. The successful revitalisation of a storied city landmark, the new “das TSCHOFEN” is a cosmopolitan retreat in the heart of Bludenz’s historic centre.
