02 Alpine authenticity
In October 2025, the freelance journalist, author and blogger Michael Ankermüller from Blog Bohème was travelling in Vorarlberg. He was particularly impressed by the quiet grandeur of the Bregenzerwald and the living culture of enjoyment in the Kleinwalsertal. Amidst handcrafted timber architecture, top regional cuisine and cultural depth, he discovered a landscape in the Bregenzerwald where building culture and culinary delights merge harmoniously. In the Kleinwalsertal, he experienced how sustainability, mindfulness and culinary quality come together naturally – from award-winning cuisine to alpine pastures.

03 Between lakeside promenade, old towns and mountainsides
In September 2025 Laura Schneider from the blog Herz an Hirn traveled through Vorarlberg – from the gentle shores of Lake Constance to the alpine town of Bludenz. At Lake Constance, Laura got to know Vorarlberg from its urban, creative side: modern architecture, enjoyable encounters and the lightness of being between the lake and culture. In Bludenz, she discovered the charm of a small town with a great history, nestled between mountain flanks and beautiful valleys, where regionality and craftsmanship are lived authentically.

04 Culture meets culinary
Antje Seeling from the blog Delicious Travel was on a special mission in the Grosses Walsertal and the Montafon in August 2025. In the Montafon, she hiked along a theater hiking trail where nature and staging become one – performances on mountain meadows, in forests, along watercourses. The trail becomes the stage, the landscape becomes the narrator, the audience hikes along. In Grosses Walsertal, she was part of the Walserherbst – the “steepest festival in the mountains”, which turns the entire valley into a stage for three weeks every two years. Whether music, theater, lectures or exhibitions, the program takes place in a wide variety of locations: in a church, on an alpine hut, on a mountain meadow, in an old barn. She herself took part in a clay mud bath in the middle of the forest and a Cello Night in the church of the St. Gerold priory. Of course, the events also offered plenty of time to immerse yourself in the culinary delights of the valleys.

06 Green around the world - in Vorarlberg
The bloggers Yannik and Anna from gruenumdiewelt were out and about in the Bodensee-Vorarlberg region, Montafon and the Bregenzerwald region in July 2025 – all by bus and train, of course. What struck them immediately was the diversity of Vorarlberg. In the Bregenzerwald, in addition to the beautiful nature, they also discovered a lot of culture and enjoyed the craftsmanship. The Bodensee-Vorarlberg region impressed with its location between Lake Constance and the Alps and the small towns of Bregenz, Dornbirn and Feldkirch. The Montafon surprised the two of them with its wide range of possibilities, which arise from the four adventure areas of Verwall, Silvretta, Rätikon and the valley, which differ in their geological and climatic conditions. Spending so much time outdoors makes you hungry. That’s why culinary delights were a deliberate part of their Vorarlberg experience.

07 Newts, moss, Montafon
The journalist Katharina Garus visited Vorarlberg as part of the Sustainable Tourism in Austria Summit in June 2025 and then took part in the post-tour to the Montafon. Here she experienced how closely nature, sustainability and awareness-raising are linked. Between moorland landscapes, wetlands and quiet ponds, she discovered a hidden diversity – from tiny alpine newts to rare plant species that are being preserved thanks to dedicated nature conservation projects. She was particularly impressed by how sensitive habitats are treated in the valley: from regional initiatives that raise visitors’ awareness of ecological connections to businesses that focus on short supply chains and organic products. Her conclusion: The Montafon shows that sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a lived philosophy – in harmony with the landscape and people.

08 Bregenzerwald: Where waiting is an experience
The journalist Ulrike Wiebrecht visited Vorarlberg as part of the Sustainable Tourism in Austria Summit in June 2025 and then took part in the post-tour to the Bregenzerwald. She was particularly impressed by the bus shelters in Krumbach, which function as small architectural works of art and turn waiting into an experience. Attractive materials such as glass and wood were used, often with local references, and through citizen participation and high-quality building culture, the townscape was consciously developed further. In a hotel in Hittisau, she experienced reduced architecture with regional materials and transparency as well as an incentive for guests to travel by public transport (reimbursement) – indicators of the sustainable design awareness of the people of the Bregenzerwald and their way of combining architecture and design, identity, quality of stay and sustainable mobility.
