Healthy, watery fun

Natural bathing lakes and pools

Besides the natural lakes with top water quality, Vorarlberg also boasts bathing ponds and pools that provide welcome refreshment with natural water and no added chemicals.

The water is cleaned naturally by thousands of aquatic plants and micro-organisms.The quality of the water in Lake Constance is also excellent.

Lake Constance
The Austrian side of Lake Constance has 27 km of shoreline. The lake offers ideal conditions for all water fans, whether actively on a sailing boat or swimming, or passively as a passenger on a boat tour. The water can reach temperatures of 26 degrees in the summer, making it ideal for bathing – whether at outdoor pool beaches or in the lidos at the lake-side towns with all conveniences between Hörbranz and Gaißau.The outstanding water quality of Lake Constance is regularly assessed by the International Commission for the Protection of Lake Constance. Thanks to a wide range of measures, the water quality at Lake Constance’s bathing areas is excellent, offering great water-based fun for all the family.

Lake Seewaldsee
It is green, calm, deep and warm: Lake Seewaldsee at Fontanella in the Grosses Walsertal Biosphere Park.On foot, the lake is a one hour hike from the car park beside the road to Faschina. Alternatively, a small slow train can take you there. The lake is in a hollow between the meadows and woods, surrounded by blooming flora, and you can enjoy a snack in the inn on the valley side.In spite of its elevation of 1200 m, the lake has a pleasant bathing temperature due to the low inflow of water.

Alvierbad natural bathing lake
The water in the bathing lake, with a total surface of 1,400 m², is cleaned biologically by aquatic plants.Located in the heart of the mountain village of Brand, it is fed with pure potable water. The  lake can even be heated to ensure optimal water temperatures. There is an adventure area for younger guests with multiple pools interconnected by waterfalls and fed with spring water.

“Mountain Beach” eco-water park
Gaschurn in Montafon has a special pool: Where the peaks of Silvretta and Rätikon remain snow-capped until May, “water babies” can splash around in two huge eco-swimming pools with a water surface of 7,000 m² at an elevation of 800 m. No chemicals are needed to treat the water, as plants and micro-organisms take care of that job.Mountain-Beach offers air-bed rafting, wooden diving towers, climbing wall, water slides, inflatable animals, Kneipp pool, extensive sunbathing area, rest areas, a beach volleyball court, carousel and café.

Natural Swimming Pool “AlmWasserPark” in Klösterle
