Many villages and all towns Bregenz, Dornbirn, Feldkirch, Bludenz and Hohenems host advent and Christmas markets. The following selection features markets which open for a longer timespan. In the Bregenzerwald village Schwarzenberg the so called “Schwarzenberger Advent” is generally felt to be the most atmospheric of all.

Bregenz Christmas, 14 November – 24 December 2021
From 14 November to 24 December, the Kornmarktplatz will be the central venue of the Bregenz Christmas Market. Every year during Advent, a Christmas village is created here with all kinds of culinary delights in separate gastronomy zones and traditional handicrafts. Traditional decorations for the Christmas tree, gifts for young and old, mulled wine and punch: the traditional craft market invites you to the Upper Town, which is appreciated by visitors and locals alike. Christmas in Bregenz’s Upper Town (weekends in December) – At the atmospheric little art and craftsmanship market in Martinsplatz, in the cellar of the St. Martin’s Tower and in St. Martin’s Tower, you have the opportunity to experience artistic moments calmly and up-close.

- Feldkircher Weihnachtsmarkt
From 26 November to 24 December 2021, the atmospheric Christmas market in the medieval old town of Feldkirch invites you to visit. There will be gastronomic offerings in demarcated areas (3-G control). New: The Christmas stalls are spread over three Christmas islands in the Neustadt, at the Marktplatz and at the Sparkassenplatz and will feature various activities. Feldkirch shines in a special light during Advent.

- Dornbirner Christkindlemarkt
Dornbirn Christmas Market, 19 November – 23 December 2021
In the 600 or so shops in Dornbirn, you can give the Christ Child a helping hand without any stress. The best service, regionality, quality and a large selection are the hallmarks of Dornbirn’s trade. The generously designed town centre invites you to enjoy and marvel in December with its Christmas tree, the three-metre Advent wreath, the nativity scene and numerous decorations. The entrance arches with mistletoe also create a romantic atmosphere on Dornbirn’s market square. Here, too, more than 150 shops of all product categories attract visitors. This year, the gastronomic offers will only take place in the guest gardens of the neighbouring pubs, and unfortunately the usual concerts will also be cancelled due to Corona. However, the ice-skating rink, bakery and handicrafts market will take place as usual.

In addition to arts and crafts, several caterers will be offering typical delicacies for your physical well-being. You can also warm up with drinks in the punch garden near the Renaissance Palace. Nostalgic carousel and horse-drawn carriage are not to be missed… . Further information follows

- Festive Christmas atmosphere at the Schwarzenberg Advent 2021
The Schwarzenberg Advent in the picturesque village of Schwarzenberg in the Bregenzerwald is considered particularly atmospheric. It takes place from 26 November to 28 December 2021. The programme includes concerts (e.g. by the Vienna String Soloists, the Bradlberg Music or the Brass Club), the Advent market on 26/27 November or exhibitions in the village and in the gastronomy, readings, parlour music, lantern walks.
- Montafoner Winterzauber
“Peace and contemplation“ is the theme of the Montafon Winter Magic from 17 December to 6 January 2021. A range of events, many concerts among them, are on the schedule.
- Mittelberg Advent Calendar in the Kleinwalsertal Valley
As in previous years, the doors of the Mittelberg Advent calendar are spread throughout the village and await with pictures, thoughts and poems.
