Picturesque Christmas time in Vorarlberg
From the beginning of December until Christmas, magical Christmas Markets enchant the cities of Bregenz, Dornbirn, Feldkirch and Bludenz and some villages in Vorarlberg’s regions. In the village of Schwarzenberg in Bregenzerwald, Advent offers many events and in Brandnertal, people get in the mood for the Christmas season with markets and music. Some places have decided not to hold a market in the traditional sense this year, but Christmas atmosphere, various actions and lots of lights enchant the towns and villages in Vorarlberg and invite you to stroll and marvel!
- Christmas Market in Bregenz
From 15 November to 23 December, the Kornmarktplatz becomes the central venue of the Bregenz Christmas Market. A Christmas village is created here every year during Advent, with all kinds of culinary delights in separate gastronomy zones and traditional handicrafts. Young visitors can also enter the magic of the pre-Christmas season here. The traditional Christmas market in Bregenz’s upper town has been cancelled. The living nativity scene at Leutbühel invites visitors until January 6.

The city of Feldkirch will once again live up to the title of “Christmas City” and enrich the Christmas season with many lights. From November 25 to December 24, 2022, the old town of Feldkirch will be transformed into a Christmas town. Feldkirch shines in a special light during Advent.

From Friday, November 18 to Friday, December 23, the Dornbirn Christmas Market will once again provide a pre-Christmas atmosphere in the city center every day. The Christmas decorated city center invites in December with Christmas tree, nativity scene and numerous decorations to enjoy and marvel.

From 24 November to 24 December, the Christkindlehäuschen in Mühlgasse open their doors and offer traditional culinary delights as well as new creations by Bludenz restaurateurs. Changing weekly, creative market participants provide special shopping experiences with handicrafts and decorative items such as soaps, cards and felt goods. Home-made products from the region such as honey, jam, liqueurs and sausages enrich the offer. In addition, a lovingly designed children’s programme will shorten the waiting time for the “Christkind” for the little ones.

In addition to arts and crafts, on December 3, 2022, several restaurateurs will provide typical delicacies for the physical well-being. In the punch garden at the Renaissance Palace you can also warm up with drinks. Nostalgic carousel and horse-drawn carriage may not be missing.

The Schwarzenberg Advent in the picturesque village of Schwarzenberg in the Bregenzerwald is considered particularly atmospheric. The program includes concerts (e.g. by the Vienna String Soloists); the Advent market in November or exhibitions in the village and in the gastronomy, readings, parlor music, lantern walks.

- Montafoner Winterzauber
“Peace and contemplation” is the theme of the Montafon Winterzauber (“Winter Magic”) from December 22 to January 5, 2023. A series of small events will become a sound experience during the most beautiful time of the year. e.g. lantern walks, concerts (Sonus Brass, Wiltener Sängerknaben, organ and brass concert, Chraity concert with Markus Wolfahrt, jazz concert, etc.) The concerts will take place in various locations in Montafon.

In Montafon, the “Schruser Wiahnachtsmarkt” invites you to a contemplative visit of decorated market stalls and a church square and village center illuminated by candlelight. Every year again a highlight – The traditional attunement to Christmas will take place again this year in the park of Villa Falkenhorst: with regional delicacies such as mulled cider, Küachle, Raclette and more, the physical well-being is well provided for! The musicians of the Military Music Vorarlberg, singer Alex Sutter and the “Falkenhorst Choir”, which has already become a tradition, will provide a pre-Christmas atmosphere.
