Silvretta Park Montafon (Valisera Bahn valley station) - Außergweilalpe - return (same route)

This route leads along the road to the rustic Alpe Außergweil, which is located below the southern Gweilspitze. From the starting point at Silvretta Park (Valisera Bahn valley station), you first follow the main road towards Gargellen and then turn right onto the Eggaweg. The farm road is initially still paved and changes to gravel after about one kilometer. The path steadily ascends through the forest on switchbacks, passing individual maize settlements; from time to time, the panoramic view over St. Gallenkirch invites you to take a short break. From the Gweilmaisalpe, the path leads downhill again over a steeper ramp to the alpine pasture.

You return the same way. Since there are no dining options available, you should bring a backpack with sufficient provisions.

The route is also very suitable as a bike and hike route. Nearby hiking destinations are the Alpe Innergweil (approx. 45 minutes) or the Horaalpe (approx. 30 minutes). The Gweilspitze (2187m) or the Alpilakopf (2255m) can also be climbed from Alpe Außergweil.

    Important notes:

    • The trail may only be used from June 15 to September 15 between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
    • The continuing path to the plateau (Mott) below the Gweilspitze or to Innergweilalpe is reserved for hikers. We kindly ask you to ride your MTB only up to the alpine pasture.

From the plateau (Mott) located below the Gweilspitze, you have a great panoramic view up to the 3000-meter peaks of the Silvretta.
