    Entry via the connecting trail "Ill" about 500 m downhill - small circular route (556 m)

    The St. Gallenkirch village circuit is accessible via the Garfrescha Bahn. It is very beautiful and quiet, located in a floodplain of the river Ill. In the flat 556 m loop, only 10 meters of elevation have to be overcome – therefore ideal for beginners. No road crossings – 2 crossings of the winter hiking trail. Toilets and a place to eat are available at the valley station of Garfrescha Bahn.

    Cross-country skiing trails in Montafon can be used free of charge.

    From the valley station of Garfrescha Bahn, follow the connecting trail a short way downhill toward Schruns. This leads you to the small and well-manageable village circuit of St. Gallenkirch.

    Just leave your car behind

    The regional buses of Montafonerbahn run throughout Montafon. The main lines depart hourly from Schruns station.

    From Schruns station you can take bus line 650 to St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl at the Garfrescha Bahn bus stop. The stop is: “Garfrescha Bahn“. Follow Brozzaweg down to the valley station and then turn right and follow Illweg a short way downhill. This leads you to the entrance of the St. Gallenkirch village circuit.

    For the return trip

    You can get back to Schruns station from St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl with bus line 650.

    Travel by train

    From Bludenz station Montafonerbahn runs hourly (partly half-hourly). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) and from Bregenz.

    Approach:

    Coming from Bludenz, take the Bludenz/Montafon motorway exit and follow L188 into Montafon to St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl. After Hotel Grandau, a street turns right into Brozzaweg. Follow the signs for “Garfrescha Bahn”.
