Warth | Bike & Hike Geißhorn (2.366 m)
-
Höhenprofil
The hike begins at the village square in Warth and heads toward the Wolfegg district, from where you’ll follow the path uphill to the Alte Salzstraße turnoff. Following the Alte Salzstraße—a somewhat narrow trail—you’ll reach the valley station of the Jägeralp-Express.
Continue toward the Hochtannberg Pass and cross to the opposite side of the road toward Tschirggen. The trail leads you on to the Hirschgehrenalpe. After crossing the stream, park your bike and continue on foot.
The trail passes above the Obere Hirschgehrenalpe. At the fork after the Hirschgehrenalpe, keep to the right. Now follow the hiking trail to the Geißhorn.
Once you reach the Geißhorn, you’ve earned a well-deserved break, during which you can enjoy the breathtaking view.
The return route follows the same path you took on the way up.
Note: The tour can also be started from Schröcken. Start from the village center and ride along the municipal road between the church and the tourist office. At a sharp left-hand curve, turn right and follow the farm road to Auenfeld. After passing under the Auenfeld Jet, turn left toward Salobersattel. Then, at the Hochtannberg Pass, you’ll ride a short distance on the main road. Next, follow the path to the right, past the Hotel Adler, and turn left at the next junction until you reach the opposite side of the road.
Important note: Bring a bike lock and lock up your bike.
