    Scenic mountain hike to the Formarinsee, which was voted the most beautiful place in Austria in the fall of 2015! Nine stations with information worth knowing about the Klostertal and numerous ibexes accompany you on the way from Mason via the Mustrinalpe to the Formarinsee.

    Learn more about agriculture and alpine farming in the valley, about the special geology around the Formarinsee, the Natura2000 European protected area “Klostertaler Bergwälder”, hydroelectric power and much more.

    Route description:
    From the parking lot at the Kristbergsaal follow the signs Freiburger Hütte to the train station Dalaas, over the bridge to the district Obermarias, at the junction on the hiking trail over the Sandtobel and through the Sponasa to the district Obermason. Pass the chapel of St. Martin, then turn right past the last farm and over Bargand through beautiful alpine meadows. In Bargand also the theme trail Stebok-Wäg starts. From here you are accompanied by information boards and numerous ibexes. Continue to the right of the Schmiedetobel into the area of the Musterinalpe, then in serpentines to the Alpe Rauher Staffel and from there via a wide road to the Freiburger Hütte. Return via the same path or alternatively with the hiking bus (Attention: only cash payment possible) from Alpe Formarin to Lech and with the bus back to Dalaas.
