Schröcken | Skitour Hochkünzelspitze
-
Höhenprofil
The Hochkünzelspitze offers experienced ski tourers magnificent descents in a high-alpine setting. A long ski tour to one of the most beautiful and highest peaks in the Bregenzerwald.
The tour starts right on the main road. Follow the road for about 70 meters until a forest trail branches off to the right. After a short descent on skis covering about 10 meters in elevation, you’ll reach the trail and follow it to the right into the Schandelstobel. Continue to the right of the stream until the trail climbs a bit more steeply. Once you’ve crossed the Schandelstobel, the view to the right opens up onto the Hochkünzelspitze. Before reaching the Biberacherhütte, the trail turns right. Here, it’s important to stay as far to the right as possible below the Giglturm. Pass it on the left until the summit slope comes into view. You’ll need to ascend this slope using numerous kick turns. In the upper section, the gradient is approximately 35°. The summit itself can only be reached on foot, and it’s best to leave your skis at the base of the rock face. Follow the ridge to the secondary summit of the Hochkünzelspitze, then continue down a moderately difficult climbing section for about 10 meters. Next comes a small saddle secured by a rope. Follow the rope for the final few meters to the summit. If the rope is buried under the snow, the ascent to the summit is very difficult and risky.
