The Bärenweg trail in Klostertal

Bears are “on the loose” at Sonnenkopf. The Bärenweg trail, a new interactive thematic trail, is now open! This exciting concept was developed in cooperation with the INATURA Dornbirn, the architectural firm of Benjamin Miatto, and cinematographer Michael Lung of bild.bewegung. Across six interactive play stations along the existing circular hiking trail, kids will have the opportunity to learn more about bears. In a playful yet scientifically grounded way, they’ll learn about bears’ closest relatives, their distribution in the Alps and beyond, their diet and pattern of feeding, as well as their sensory organs and so much more. Life-size bear models are located at three such stations and include interesting information and surprises that will lead kids on an adventure through the realm of bears (Bärenland) on the Sonnenkopf. Along the way, kids will also learn more about the story and route of “Bruno” the bear, the first bear in Austria for nearly 170 years. At one of the nine play stations, kids will have the opportunity to test their quickness against that of a bear. There is plenty to discover for mums, dads, grandparents and the entire family at this unique bear-themed attraction.
