The Green Ring: The “Lech Wall” is one of around 35 stations on the Green Ring. The names of the inhabitants of Lech are archived on stones here. Incidentally, the Vorarlberg locals call it the “Lecher Chluppa”.
In a couple of centuries, when electronic data have disappeared in an infernal tangle of pixels for ever, this wall will have a considerable length.
“Our walk is an appeal to take it slowly, to examine things in detail, to take a second look at things”, explains Daniela Egger. Working together with sculptor Daniel Kocher, the author native to Bregenz has developed the Green Ring. The Green Ring is a hike around Lech Zürs am Arlberg which, in several stages, takes three days.
Out and about, hikers encounter art installations incorporated in the landscape, often concealed. Daniela Egger wrote the tales about them and has made a compendium of them published as a literary hiking guide. And so she sets off on the walk to an amusing, cleverly staged modern world of legends based on old stories.
At the Libellensee – the dragonfly lake – for instance, mysterious gases escape from the water. The question is: do they still have such a rejuvenating effect as they used to?
Her tip
The Green Puzzle Ring, which goes from Lech to the Rud alp: with the aid of a book, adults and children get to put their heads together to solve puzzles and riddles along the way. A hut serving refreshments and a large water playground await you at the top.
