  • Directions

    At the bus stop Alpenrose in Mittelberg we follow the main road towards Hirschegg to the turn in Höflerweg at the drug store. From here, we continue along the asphalt road quickly down to the creek and into nature. We cross the Breitach on a covered wooden bridge. Below the ski lift, we turn right. Alternatively, you can start off the hike here at Höfle . When the paved road ends, keep to the left on the gravel road. Before the wooden barrier now a beautiful path leads uphill. Soon the view opens before us into the valley. We pass a farm while the gravel road is moderately rising towards the Innere Wiesalpe (Obere Wiesalpe). We follow the path straight to the Fluchtalpe. The trail winds now gently along the stream and brings us closer to the waterfall at the end of the valley. Even from a distance you can see the Fluchtalpe, which is located slightly above the path. On the same path we return to the Obere Wiesalpe. Here we turn left and pass by the Untere Wiesalpe. We follow the gravel road downhill, crossing the parking lot of the Alpengasthof Bergheim and follow the Schwendlestraße until the bridge for about 10 minutes. Just past the bridge, turn right onto the Breitachweg. At the first opportunity we keep left and walk through a small forest up towards the center. We cross the main road and turn left to the center. Our tour ends at the church.

    Leave the car where it is!

    The Walserbus is a convenient way to reach your starting point. Line 1 takes you to the village Mittelberg. For this tour you need to get off at the bus stop “Alpenrose”. Way back: bus line 1 from “Mittelberg”.

    Approach:

    Most routes from Germany lead to Ulm before carrying on along the A7. Take the Allgäu junction over a section of the A980 to the Waltenhofen junction, then take the 4- lane B19 via Sonthofen and Oberstdorf to Kleinwalsertal. From Austria (Vorarlberg) and Switzerland you reach the Kleinwalsertal via the Bregenzerwald (Hittisau) – Riedbergpass – Fischen – Oberstdorf. From Tyrol the fastest route is over the A7 to Kempten carrying on along the B19 direction Oberstdorf. A motorway vignette is not required to reach the valley.
