Very demanding stair run for top athletes and mountain running professionals. The surface of the steps is made of metal and stone. The challenge: around 3,600 steps, 700 meters of elevation, and 1.5 kilometers – the world’s largest fitness device. In September, the Montafoner Stair Cup of the Europatreppe 4000 takes place here. Further information can be found here: https://www.scspartenen.at/treppencup/

In summer, the best staircase time is determined at the "Montafoner Stair Cup", currently it is about 22 minutes. You can find all information about the event at scspartenen.at

  • Directions

Left of the Vermuntbahn valley station a short staircase leads to Bofastraße (sign “Europatreppe”), which is crossed directly under the railway track. There is the starting point of the Europatreppe 4000. On steps with varying surfaces, it now goes straight and steeply upwards towards the mountain station. At the halfway point and in the last third, there is each a path about 50 meters long, which does not go straight ahead.

The descent can be made either with the Vermuntbahn (Opening times to be observed) or via the footpath towards Partenen (route description including return).
