    Golmerbahn middle station Matschwitz - Plazadels - Wachters Dieja - Alpe Latschätz - Golmerbahn top station Grüneck

    Already at the beginning of the 17th century the Walser settled the Gauertal. During this time the Maisäß settlements Plzadels and Wachters Dieja were established. The settlements were part of the three-level agriculture, where the Maisäß were inhabited for a few weeks from May to June depending on the weather, before the cattle moved up to the alps for the summer. From Wachters Dieja the hike continues to the Alpe Latschätz and to the top station of the Golmerbahn.

    The moderate hike starts at the middle station of the Golmerbahn in Matschwitz. First the forest road passes the Maisäß landscape of Matschwitz. At the last house the hiking trail begins and leads gently uphill through the forest to Plazadels. About 20 minutes later we reach the area Wachters Dieja. Now it is not far and we reach the farmed Alpe Latschätz. There we can refresh ourselves with a glass of milk and homemade cheese and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountain scenery.

    The regional buses operate throughout Montafon. The main lines run every half hour from Schruns station.

    Arrival by train to Montafon

    From Bludenz station the Montafon railway runs hourly (partly every half hour). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) and from Bregenz.

    Approach:

    Take the A14 to the Bludenz/Montafon exit and continue on Montafonerstraße L188 to Tschagguns. Via Tschagguns you reach the higher located Latschau.
