The largest estate in Mittelberg: Erlenboden
-
The earliest documented mention of this plot of land, which is today a small hamlet with two rural farmsteads located on the Höhenweg leading up to Baad, can be found in a land partitioning letter from the year 1538.
The verbatim contents: “Our farmstead, named ‘on the Erlenboden'”. An entry in the tax book of 1795 states that the farm on the Erlenboden is the largest of all in Mittelberg, and names Mrs. Maria Frizin and her children as the owners.
This was also the location of the house of birth of the famous Walser citizen Leo Christian Müller (1799-1844), the remodeler of the high-speed printing press, and the first manufacturer of printing machines in Austria.
