School in Bödmen

Schule in Bödmen

Factbox

  • About the first teacher Jodok Fritz states in the chronicle that he had served 42 years as a model schoolboy. He should also have been a good farmer by the way. Like the other teachers of the Kleinwalsertal, in 1809, when Vorarlberg was incorporated into the Kingdom of Bavaria, he too had to pass an aptitude test in Kempten. From 1874 onwards no longer held school in Bödmen, which was not particularly difficult given the small distance to the village school Mittelberg, the small number of students and the increased teacher salary for which the Bödmer families had to pay. In 1901, Bödmen lessons were resumed and there were years when more than 20 children went to school here. When the new school building in Mittelberg was opened in September 1952, the school was over. The last teacher Peter Natter taught from Großdorf. The strikingly narrow building has since been used for residential purposes.
