  • As a model carpenter Leo Müller1826 was first employed in a fast press factory near Würzburg. Soon, the ambitious young master was able to submit to his boss Franz König proposals for an improved and considerably simplified rapid press. Back in Oberwestegg he developed several designs for his machine “and produced the first wooden models. In 1832 he traveled with his models to Jenbach / Tyrol to an iron foundry, where Leo Müller received his own workshop. Already in 1833 he was granted by the Court Chamber in Vienna the privilege for improvements to the book printer rapid press. In 1834, Leo Müller delivered his first rapid press to the University Printing Center in Innsbruck. In the period from 1836 to 1844, 125 Schnellpressen were sold with the Müller’schen invention details at home and abroad.
