Jonas Schlösschen

Junker-Jonas-Schloss
Junker-Jonas-Schloss
  • In 1584, the Jonas-Schlösschen was built as a family residence by order of the nobleman Lienhart Jonas von Buch und Udelberg. Exactly two hundred years later, the Jonas estate was sold to the municipality of Götzis. The colloquial name “Junker-Jonas-Schlössle” is still a reminder of the builder. A “Junker” was a simple nobleman without an additional title. Thanks to extensive renovations, the castle has retained its splendour. Inside the building there are wooden coffered ceilings from the 16th century and paintings. Today, a bar is run in the basement of the Schlössle, and the forecourt is the venue for markets and events of various kinds. The Schlössle itself also hosts art exhibitions and a wedding fair.
