Ferienhaus Islen

Islen - Zeit-Insel am Mellenbach
  •  Located directly on the shores of the Mellenbach stream in Mellau in the Bregenzerwald, the “Islen” is a duplex constructed by the carpentry firm Zimmerei Michael Kaufmann. The name “Islen” refers to the old island in the riverbed. Sustainable materials such as wood and other natural elements contribute to the ambiance of both innovative apartment units. In fact, the modular timber building called TINN is a concept that can be used throughout the world, making responsible use of resources with respect for the environment. The floor plan, the interior design and the materials are all perfectly coordinated. All of the woodworking and carpentry was fashioned by the same workshop.

The holiday house is the ideal oasis of tranquillity designed with modest beauty for families, sports and nature fans and those looking for rest and recovery. Neighbouring buildings are also made from timber and the building is situated on the riverbank. The first things one sees in the morning are the meadows and mountain peaks.

At 90 m², the smaller of the holiday homes is ideally suited to groups of 4-6. The somewhat larger 97 m² holiday home (also featuring a veranda) offers space for max. 4-8 occupants.

    Awards

In 2015, the modular timber building was awarded the “Vorarlberger Holzbaupreis” (Timber construction award – category tourism and craft work).
