“Heart of the World – Face of Love” exhibition in Grosses Walsertal
Multimedia artist and shaman Bettina Arna Bohne and organic cookie manufacturer Sabine Burtscher have declared 2022 to be the year of heart quality. In an interactive, open and growing art and culture project they have invited 12 friends from the arts scene and different disciplines – fine arts, textile, literature, music – to engage in a dialogue. They have set up a post office for the heart and a Heart Art Wall. The performances by the artists are to encourage visitors to connect with their own hearts and those of others. All this will take place at “Sabine and Xaver Bio Gourmet Manufaktur”, an organic deli in Raggal in the Grosses Walsertal biosphere reserve. The exhibitions and the events are scheduled from April to December 2022. sabineundxaver-gourmet-manufaktur.com

Kultursteg Walgau
The funnel-shaped, open wooden footbridge is called “Kultursteg Walgau”. It can be used as a grandstand and stage and can be set up at different locations in nature. Above all, Kultursteg is intended to offer culture-promoting associations from the Walgau region an individually designable space for open-air events. “Dussa” (= outside) is the name of the festival for which Kultursteg will be used for the second time in 2022. On certain dates from May to July, musicians and writers will put in guest performances on the outdoor stage, located at the Untere Au outdoor pool in Frastanz. The programme also features culinary events, lectures and excursions to the nearby nature reserve. kultursteg-walgau.at

Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Madame Butterfly“ is on the programme of the Bregenz Festival from 20 July to 21 August 2022. At the Festspielhaus the Bregenz Festival will be performing Umberto Giordano’s opera “Siberia” (1903). More than 100 years ago, the paths of these two works crossed, when Giordano’s verismo opera was performed instead of Madame Butterfly at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the premiere of which had to be postponed. The programme is rounded off by orchestra concerts and further contemporary productions. bregenzerfestspiele.com/en

Habakuk‘s Puppet Atelier in Bludenz
Kasperl, Helmi or Tintifax, the magician – these used to be well-known childhood TV stars for many an Austrian. The puppets were created by Arminio Rothstein, better known as Habakuk the clown. In early 2022, the collection found a new home in Bludenz: a workshop where the puppets are being carefully restored. If you want to take a look at the puppets, you can visit the puppet atelier and, depending on how old you are, take a trip down memory lane. www.habakuk.at
