Marathon and Triathlon

Endurance athletes can challenge themselves and test their personal limits at one of Vorarlberg’s many sporting events including trail running, mountain running, marathon, biathlon, triathlon or mountain bike competitions. Vorarlberg has so much to offer!

The fifth Bizau Trail Run has been scheduled for 2 May 2020. There is a choice of three options: the 7.6 km adventure run, the 30.5 km trail run featuring 1,660 m in altitude gain, and the 50 km ultra rail long with 2,900 m altitude gain.

Aptly titled “Nothing runs without women,” the Lake Constance Women’s Run will take place in Bregenz on 15 and 16 May 2020. Participants can choose between 5 km of Nordic Walking & running or 10 km of running. The event’s supporting programme is unique: The largest indoor women’s running fair in the Bregenz Festspielhaus, which will include fitness and cooking shows as well as other stage events. (German only)

The 5th Montafon Totale Trail on 13 June 2020 starts in Schruns and finishes at Valisera Hüsli at 2,000 m above sea level. In addition to the challenging “Ultra”, “Trail” and “Mountain Run”, there is a special trail for youngsters and a kids’ trail.

Meanwhile, in June (exact date will be announced), outdoor sportsmen and women will compete in the Outdoorthrophy in the disciplines of mountain running, paragliding, whitewater kayaking and mountain biking in Lingenau. The relay competition is regarded as an unofficial world outdoor championship. (German only)

The start for the Montafon Arlberg Marathon is on 04 July 2020. Running mainly along forest and hiking paths, the course takes participants from Silbertal to the Natura 2000 reserve up to more than 1,935 m and then down to St. Anton am Arlberg.

Vorarlberg’s largest mountain bike event, the 11th M³ Montafon Mountainbike Marathon, will take place from 30 July to 01 August. There is a choice of six courses: “M3 extreme“ with 130km, “M2 challenging” with 65km, “M1 athletic” with 40km, “Mfit” with 25km, the Montafon e-bike pleasure tour with 31km and the M4 Montafon Village Cross.

The White Ring – The Trail Challenge: On 22 August 2020, the legendary White Ring ski circuit turns into a mountain and trail running circuit. The contestants must negotiate 25 km and 2,500 of altitude gain on the route via Rüfikopf and Madlochjoch. Individual and relay runners are allowed to enter the contest. (German only)

30 August 2020 is the date set for the Trans-Vorarlberg triathlon under the motto “From Lake Constance to the Arlberg“. The first event is swimming in Lake Constance; then competitors mount their bikes to cover 93 km through Bregenzerwald to reach Lech where they still have 12 km of running ahead of them. (German only)

Participants in the Seven Summits Tour in September 2020 (exact date will be announced) must negotiate seven mountain peaks, 50 km and 4,500 of elevation gain. The net profit from the long-distance event is donated to an international charity.

The Sparkasse 3-Country Marathon on 4 October 2020 is a special treat for runners. This highly popular route runs either close to, or affording a view of, the lake and crosses all three of the countries bordering Lake Constance – Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
